yoga for mood regulation

Traumatic experiences such as sexual abuse, domestic violence, sexual harassment, racism, and discrimination can have a profound effect on our relationship with our bodies. The body is a part of ourselves that tends to be forgotten, neglected, and ignored in our healing journey.

Beyond simply teaching us to breathe and move, yoga gives us tools to manage our mood and understand our bodies’ response to trauma and stress. In our work together, we can facilitate an understanding of the ways our bodies have learned to protect ourselves from pain and suffering. We can learn to manage our emotional experience in ways that feel tolerable, helping us to release stress and process our pain in more tolerable ways. In the end, our yoga work is about being able to get to know and love yourself.
